SONICWARE ELZ_1 core – Compact Synthesizer Module with Characterful Sound

The SONICWARE ELZ_1 core brings the distinctive sound and versatile synthesis architecture of the ELZ_1 into a compact desktop module. Designed for musicians, producers, and live performers, the ELZ_1 core integrates seamlessly into existing setups – from keyboards and MIDI controllers to DAWs and live rigs.

Instead of rebuilding your entire setup around a new instrument, the ELZ_1 core adds a new sonic direction to the gear you already use. With 18 synthesis engines, up to three oscillators per sound, and 49 effect types, it offers extensive possibilities for creative sound design.

Versatile Sound and Deep Sound Design

From wavetable and FM synthesis to granular sounds and physical modeling, the ELZ_1 core combines a wide range of synthesis techniques in one versatile instrument. Its built-in wavetables include 16 wavetables from the legendary Waldorf PPG and Microwave instruments, with support for importing Serum wavetables.

With up to three oscillators per sound, multiple filter and envelope types, and up to 20-voice polyphony, the ELZ_1 core covers a broad sonic spectrum – from powerful basses and atmospheric pads to experimental textures.

Patch Tag and the redesigned patch browser make it easier to find the sound you need. Instead of searching through a long list of patches, you can browse sounds by category.

Save your favorite patches for quick access, then assign the sounds you need for the moment to Shortcut for instant recall. Whether you’re building a track or performing live, the ELZ_1 core helps you stay focused on your music.

Expressive Performance with Three Macros

Three Performance Macros bring complex sound design directly into your performance. Each Macro can control up to three parameters simultaneously – across oscillators, filters, effects, and more.

A single movement can reshape the character of a patch in real time, adding motion and expression to your sound. The redesigned Edit UI keeps deeper programming accessible while the Macros make your sounds immediately playable.

Play It Your Way

Connect a compatible USB MIDI controller directly to the ELZ_1 core via USB HOST. Supported controllers can also receive bus power from the module, keeping your setup simple and computer-free.

The dedicated TRIG function allows you to trigger chords or drum sounds directly from the unit, making it easy to develop musical ideas even without an external keyboard.

Built-In Sequencer

The integrated sequencer supports patterns of up to 128 steps on a single track. With step and real-time recording, as well as non-quantized recording via MicroTiming REC, the ELZ-1 core offers flexible tools for creating and performing music. Store up to 128 patterns for studio production or live use.
